The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Friday disclosed that it intercepted the sum of N32,400,000 in Lagos but it is yet to disclose the huge sums in Dollar denomination which the personnel seized. The commission was equally silent on the personalities involved in the money laundry.
Pointblanknews.com has however obtained details of what transpired and full lists of very important personalities (VIP) who were at the meeting when the EFCC invaded the venue.
EFCC Head of Media, Wilson Uwujaren in a statement had said the money is suspected to have been earmarked for vote buying in Lagos. He also confirmed that suspects involved have been taken into custody for further questioning.
However, a source at the meeting who spoke to the Pointblanknews.com exclusively has said that beside the N32.4m recovered by the EFCC which they announced, a huge amount of cash running into hundreds of thousands dollars was also recovered.
The source which was baffled at the silence of the EFCC on the foreign currency recovered also wondered why they failed to name the personalities at the meeting who were arrested and later released without even proffering any charges.
Some of the VIPs at the meeting according to Pointblanknews.com source include Senators Tokunbo Afikuyomi, Musiliu Obanikoro, Lagos APC State Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, AIG Hakeem Odumosu, Ganiyu Solomon, Alhaji Mutiu Are, Henry Ajomale, a Retired DIG, an Rear Admiral, Commissioner for Housing, Moruf Akinderu, amongst others.
All these political leaders caught in those hotels; Bon Hotel, Providence Hotel and Marriott Hotel by EFCC were allowed to go while two drivers who accompanied their bosses were arrested and are still in detention.
According to the source, the monies which was meant for the prosecution of election in Lagos state would have been disbursed to stakeholders for rigging and manipulation of results of the Saturday election.
“These monies would have been distributed to touts who are already stationed and engaged to disrupt elections in areas where the APC presidential candidate is believe to have weak support base. Marked as the would be beneficiaries of the money are the Police and other enforcement agencies, officials of the INEC, polling agents of the APC and agents from other parties so as to play ball with our agents.
“The EFCC announced the recovery of N32.4million from a raid in Lagos but did not declare the thousands of Dollars also recovered, didn’t name those found during the raid of the Bon Hotel, Providence Hotel and Marriott Hotel in Lagos.
“The Thousands of Dollars recovered which was part of the N32.4million was never declared and may have been shared by the EFCC operatives involved in the raid. The funds were meant for vote buying and to ensure Atiku or Obi don’t get 25% in Lagos State during the elections.”
