Agriculture: Ondo Govt. Reiterates Commitment To Youth Participation

The Ondo Government has reiterated its commitment to youth participation in the agricultural sector with a view to boosting food production and ensuring food security in the state.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Mr Isaac Ogunsuyi,  told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Akure on Tuesday that the state government had established 19 Fadama  youth villages across the state.

Ogunsuyi said that more than 5,000 youths had been empowered under the programme, stressing that N102 million had been disbursed from the Fadama Fund earmarked for farmers.

He said that the state government recently established five Fadama villages at Isanlu in Akure North Local Government, Supare in Akoko South-West, Ileoluji in Ileoluji/Okeigbo, Igbado in Ondo West and Aponmu in Akure South Local Government.

He gave an assurance that other Fadama youth villages would be established in other parts of the state.
