Kebbi Government has procured drugs worth N120 million for distribution to 158 Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) clinics established by it.
Alhaji Samaila Augie, the Special Adviser on MDG’s to Gov. Saidu Dakingari,told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday that the money was also used to equip the clinics.
Augie said the clinics had already commenced operation, with staff recruited to ensure health care delivery in rural areas.
He said the state government would collaborate with local government councils to ensure the maintenance of facilities and provision of drugs to sustain full operation of the clinics.
According to him, the provision of efficient health care services is a top priority of the state administration.
The special adviser said counterpart funds were being released promptly to the state MDGs office for its programmes.
He said 30 new general hospitals had been established in the state in the past four years to facilitate easy access to health care services, especially by rural dwellers.
He called on the beneficiaries to patronise the clinics.
