In a development that mirrors recent interceptions of terrorist logistics and collaborators in Taraba and Borno States, troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have once again disrupted terrorist supply chains and arrested key suspects linked to a deadly suicide bombing network in Adamawa State.
Military authorities said the latest success followed intensified cordon-and-search operations targeting those responsible for the Gamboru Market Mosque suicide bombing. Acting on sustained intelligence surveillance, OPHK troops carried out a coordinated operation in the Yan Lemo area of Mubi South Local Government Area in the early hours of January 5, 2026.
The recent development was contained in a statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, on January 5, 2026.
He noted that during the operation, eight suspects were arrested, including two principal suspects identified as major facilitators within the suicide bombing network. Security sources disclosed that items recovered from the suspects’ residence included cash, mobile phones, identification documents, ATM cards, jewellery and other personal effects, all of which are undergoing forensic examination to aid ongoing investigations.
According to the military, a suspect already in custody positively identified the two principal suspects as individuals who supplied materials used in assembling the Improvised Explosive Device (IED), while other occupants of the residence were also found to have links to the terror network.
“All suspects remain in military custody and are undergoing detailed interrogation to facilitate further intelligence recovery before being handed over for continued investigation,” the statement said.
In a related operation, OPHK troops also intercepted a large consignment of suspected terrorists’ logistics in Mayo Nguli, Maiha Local Government Area of Adamawa State, on January 4, 2026. The troops seized 45 Jerry cans of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), amounting to about 1,125 litres, believed to have been smuggled to support terrorist activities.
The military disclosed that the suppliers fled on sighting the troops, abandoning the fuel, which has since been taken into military custody. The operation was conducted without casualties.
“These operations underscore OPHK’s unwavering resolve to dismantle terrorist networks, disrupt logistics and supply chains, prevent future attacks, and bring all perpetrators and collaborators of terrorism to justice,” the military said.
The Joint Task Force further urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue to cooperate with security agencies, stressing that public support remains critical to sustaining peace and security across the North East.
