Member representing Esan North East/Esan South East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Henry Okojie, has emerged unopposed in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the 2027 general elections in Edo State.
Okojie, who currently serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Midstream), secured the party’s ticket without opposition, further consolidating his political standing within the APC and among stakeholders in his constituency.
The primary election was conducted across wards within the federal constituency, with the result officially announced in Ubiaja by the returning officer, Mr. Ambrose Ayewoh.
Party leaders and supporters described the lawmaker’s unopposed emergence as a demonstration of confidence in his leadership style, representation, and contributions to the development of the constituency since his election into the House of Representatives in 2023.
Speaking after the exercise, Okojie expressed appreciation to party leaders, members, and constituents for the confidence reposed in him, pledging to continue delivering effective representation and democratic dividends to the people.
“I am deeply humbled and honoured to emerge victorious in the APC primary election. I sincerely thank the Executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and our great party, the All Progressives Congress, for the confidence reposed in me to fly the party’s flag in the forthcoming election,” he said.
The lawmaker also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as his fatherly leadership and commitment to the progress of the party.
“My profound appreciation goes to the leaders of our party, members, supporters, and the good people of our constituency for their trust, encouragement, and overwhelming support throughout this process. This victory belongs to all of us who believe in purposeful leadership, unity, progress, and effective representation,” he added.
Okojie reaffirmed his commitment to serving the people with dedication, integrity, and loyalty, while calling on APC faithful and residents of the constituency to remain united ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He further praised the conduct of the APC primaries across the nine federal constituencies in Edo State, describing the exercise as peaceful, transparent, and orderly.
The federal lawmaker urged party supporters to remain law-abiding and continue supporting the APC as preparations begin for the next election cycle.
Since his inauguration into the National Assembly in 2023, Okojie has played an active role in legislative engagements, particularly in the area of petroleum sector reforms through his leadership of the House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Midstream).
His emergence comes as the APC in Edo State intensifies efforts to strengthen party structures under the leadership of Governor Okpebholo ahead of the 2027 general elections.
