A Federal High Court in Abuja has nullified the nomination of Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Imo West Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections.
Justice Obiora Egwuatu, in a ruling on Thursday, ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to publish the name of former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, as the authentic candidate of the party for the district.
The judge also directed Uzodinma to immediately stop parading himself as the APC senatorial candidate for Imo West ahead of the January 16, 2027 National Assembly elections.
The ruling followed a suit filed by Okorocha, who challenged Uzodimma’s nomination and his claim to the party’s ticket.
Justice Egwuatu held that evidence presented by Okorocha showed that he secured the majority of lawful votes cast at the APC primary election conducted on May 18, 2026, which INEC monitored.
The dispute arose from conflicting claims over the outcome of the primary, with INEC’s official results recognising Uzodinma as the winner with 230,464 votes, while Okorocha was credited with 1,098 votes.
