The Minister of Works, Mr Mike Onolememen, has said that it is up to PDPand its candidate in the Edo governorship election to react to the outcome of the contest.

“As an Edo citizen, I have performed my duty in the election by voting’’,  Onolememen  told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in reaction to the re-election of Gov.  Adams Oshiomhole.

“The election has been concluded and I am already out of Edo, returning to Abuja. The candidate and the party will speak appropriately on the outcome of the election,” the minister said.

Also,  the Publicity Secretary  of PDP, Mr Matthew Urhokhide,  said, “we want to see how we can first take a closer look at the field results before making an official statement.’’

Meanwhile, a social commentator, Dr Festus Iyayi, has urged Oshiomhole, to be magnanimous in victory by reaching out  to `people on the other side of the divide. ’’

Iyayi, a former chairman of Academic Staff Union of Universities, told NAN on  telephone that he congratulated the governor.

“I commend him on his victory and  urge him to be magnanimous to work with the opposition. People voted for performance and his performance made the difference in this election,’’  Iyayi said.

He advised the governor to try to consolidate and build a solid foundation for the future.

“I want him to become a statesman,’’ Iyayi said.

NAN recalls that  INEC on Sunday declared Oshiomholethe  winner of the election held on Saturday.
