Kwara Set To Commence Contributory Pension Scheme

by Our Reporter

The Kwara Government says it is set to commence its contributory pension scheme for civil servants in the state.

The state Head of Service, Alhaji Dabarako Mohammed, said this in Ilorin on Wednesday while fielding questions from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

He said his office had put necessary machinery in motion for the approval by the authorities.

Mohammed, who explained that the Federal Government had directed states to key into the pension scheme, added that it was a constitutional matter meant to enhance healthcare delivery.

He said the state government as a matter of policy had ensured prompt payment of monthly pensions.

“We also review pensions and gratuities along with the salaries of workers every five years,’’ he added.

Mohammed said the verification exercise embarked upon for pensioners by the Federal Government was aimed at determining the number of those captured during the earlier exercise.

He said that the exercise was embarked upon to ensure that no one was short changed or left out in the exercise.

Mohammed urged workers in the state to continue to reciprocate government’s gesture by showing more commitment, loyalty and dedication to their duties. (NAN)
