The Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan has charged men to join in the campaign against breast and cervical cancer so as to reduce the mortality rate in the country.

Dr. Uduaghan, who made the call Tuesday when he visited the Pink Pearl Foundation Free Breast and Cervical Cancer screening in Asaba, said that if men join in the awareness campaign, more people will be sensitized.

Besides, he explained that it was important for men to also have the knowledge of Breast Cancer detection adding that they can help their wives detect the cancer early.

“Breast cancer is one of the cancers that can be easily cured especially through early detection. I want to advise women to always check for lumps and go for screening at the hospitals. You should also mobilise your family members, friends and neighbours to go for screening so as to reduce the mortality rate in the country”, he stated.

Governor Uduaghan commended the Foundation for the initiative and commended Delta women for availing themselves for the opportunity.

The Foundation which is the initiative of the Governor’s daughter, Mrs. Orode Okpu registered over 300 women for the screening in the one day programme.
