Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State has been honoured by the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion for his resourcefulness and creativity in governance.
The governor was awarded the ‘Most Dynamic and Constructive Governor’
by the Enugu Diocese of the church at the All Saints Anglican Cathedral, Enugu.
The award was given him during the thanksgiving service to mark the commencement of the fifteenth Synod of the Diocese.
Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi got the award of a ‘Very Good Financial Planner and Manager’ from the church.
Presenting the award, Bishop Emmanuel Chukwuma of the Enugu Anglican Diocese said the church was appreciative of the developmental efforts of the Uduaghan administration.
The clergyman also considered Governor Peter Obi in recognition of his prudent management of the lean resources of Anambra State.
In his remarks, Governor Uduaghan said the award which was most unexpected would spur the entire team of Delta State Government to do more in the development of the state.
Attesting to the philanthropic posture of Bishop Chukwuma even with personal gifts to him, the governor promised to contribute to the growth of the Anglican Diocese of Enugu even as he expressed sincere gratitude for the honour done him.
In a sermon at the synod on ‘Christian Contentment’, Bishop Israel Amao of New Bussa Diocese of the Anglican Communion, urged the church not to take God for granted in any way.
The clergyman insisted that development of Christian Contentment stemmed from appreciating God as the source of man’s blessing and generosity.
He tasked political leaders particularly those in government, to beware of dream-killers who would stop at nothing in truncating their developmental efforts.
