PDP’s NEC adopts Ugwuanyi’s zoning committee report

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP’s National Executive Council, NEC has adopted the report of the zoning committee led by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State.
The zoning committee had in their meeting, recommended that the National Chairman of the PDP should be produced by the Northern Region of the country.
The committee in their meeting which took place on 30th September at Fraser Hotel, Abuja resolved that the north and the south should swap current party positions.
However, the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan while briefing the media after the 94th NEC of the party said, “NEC adopted the report of Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s committee on zoning of offices of the national working committee.
“The Bala Committee report has been slated for another NEC day for deliberations.
“Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s report was very explicit on the zoning of elective offices outside the party offices.
“So far, so good. Nothing has been said to alter the date of the national convention which is 30 – 31st October.”
Part of the resolution of the Ugwuanyi’s Committee read, “The current offices being held by officers in the Southern Zones of the country namely, South West, South East and South South zones are to swap places with the offices currently in the northern zones of Nigeria, namely, North West, North East and North Central zones.
“That zoning of offices on PDP has traditionally been between the North and South of Nigeria.”
Also, speaking, the acting PDP National chairman, Elder Yemi Akinwonmi in his opening speech said that, “Today is a day of making history in the life and survival of this great party PDP which Nigerians are eargerly waiting to take them out of the challenges of socio political vices created by the political party in power, the APC.
“At this juncture,  I call on us to understand our differences, reflect them and when not necessary, forget them. We should look at our party and Nigeria and bury all our personal differences. Because PDP is above any personal, or individual or collective consideration.”
