Nothing juicy in your appointments, Ikpeazu tells new Commissioners

Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has cautioned the newly sworn-in commissioners in the state that there is nothing juicy in the appointments, stressing that those whose agenda is to line their pockets will be disappointed.
Assigning portfolios to the 22 new Commissioners in Umuahia, Ikpeazu who said they were carefully selected to support to drive his administration’s vision for a better life for Abians, charged them to see their appointments as a call to duty.
The Governor who disclosed that his administration is on its final lap, explained that the desire of the government is to complete ongoing projects and possibly embark on new ones and charged the new appointees to be active players in the socio-political and economic renaissance of the state.
He said; “There is nothing juicy in your appointments. Those whose agenda is to line their pockets will be disappointed. You must see your appointments as calls to duty. You must remain loyal to the government as those found wanting will be shown the way out.”
He assured that the government would provide them with the resources to work with, but also urged them to leverage their connections and wealth of experience in moving their various ministries forward.

He also implored them to keep in touch with their localities as the government will be relying on them to galvanize support from the grassroot.
Responding on behalf of his colleagues, the new Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Barrister Eze Chikamnayo thanked the Governor for the privilege to be part of the State Executive Council and assured that they will not let the Government and Abians down.
The new Commissioners include; Mazi Donatus Okorie – Cooperatives and Rural development, Mr Ndom Godwin -Boundary Matters; Chief Okezie Erondu- Science and Technology;  Prof. Ikechi Mgbeoji- Agriculture, Pascal Karibe Ojigwe, Ministry of Sports, Mrs Uwaoma Olewengwa, Ministry of Industry, Promotions and Development, Prince Christopher Enweremadu, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs; Charles Esonu – Youth Development; Chief Chinagorom Nwankpa –Housing; Hon. Monday Ejiegbu – Parastatals; Deaconess Rose Urenta- Women Affairs; Chief Kingsley Imaga- Public Utilities, Chidiebere Uwagwu Kalu – Establishment and Training; and Chijioke Mark –  Post Basic Education.
Others are; Chief Chisom Nwachukwu- Special duties/Vulnerable groups, Mr. Sopuruchi Beke -Homeland Security; Eze Nwanganga -Petroleum and Energy Development; Tony Nwanmuo -Culture and Tourism; Sam Nwogu –Environment; Dr Chidi Onwuchuruba -Lands and Survey; Ugochukwu Emezue- Documentation and Strategic Communications; Mrs  Adaku Uwaoma Onusiriuka Oseiza – Small and Medium Enterprises and New Businesses Development; Eze Chikamnayo -Information and Strategy; Godswill Uche Nwanoruo –Transport; Prince Obinna Okey – Inter Governmental Affairs; Chief Ukwu Rocks Emma -Basic Education; Chinenye Emelogu -Joint Projects Implementations while the immediate past Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, was redeployed to serve as the Commissioner for Trade and Investment.
Ikpeazu had retained the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joe Osuji; Attorney General and Commissioner, Uche Ihediwa; Commissioner for Works; Mr. Bob Ogu.Commissioner for Finance, Dr. Aham Uko; as well as the Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu.
Abia now has a 27 man state executive council.
