Leader of the council, Dr. Max Nduaguibe while receiving Ikonne and his campaign organization during the council’s meeting at Umuezenta Mbawsi, Isiala Ngwa North LGA, stated that the Ukwa/Ngwa people cannot be intimidated by other clan from actualizing their mission of producing next governor of the state of Ngwa extraction.
“The Ukwa/Ngwa people cannot be intimidated by other clans from actualizing their mission of producing the next governor of the state of Ngwa extraction. Ukwa/Ngwa Elders’ council is fully in support of Prof. Uche Ikonne to emerge as the next governor of the state in 2023.”
In their speeches, the Deputy chief of staff, office of the Deputy Governor, Chief Don Ubani; a traditional ruler from Aba south LGA, Eze Monday Ugbo and the Chairman of the Governing Council of the Abia Polytechnic, Aba, Elder John Nwangborogwu, said Ikonne’s endorsement by the people of Ukwa la Ngwa is to equitably balance the 16years of governance of state by the Old Bende Division.
While appealing to other aspirants from Ukwa la Ngwa to form a united front to actualize the cause for next governor of the state of Ngwa extraction, the Elders tasked Ikonne to extend hands of friendship to them to achieve the desired goal.
The council also tasked Ikonne to replicate the remarkable achievements he recorded as VC, ABSU through his ‘Our story must change mantra’ in the governance of the state.
Responding, Prof. Ikonne stated that the people of Ukwa/Ngwa must not lose this opportunity of producing the next governor.
He assured that the state will experience positive impacts during his administration come May 29, 2023, stressing that integrity, performance value & diligence will be his watchwords.
In a vote of thanks, ex chief whip of the state House of Assembly, Dr. Ikechukwu Nwabeke commended Prof. Ikonne for finding it fit to visit the Elders Council of Ukwa la Ngwa and wished him success in his mission.
