Unknown gunmen have attacked the Police Criminal Investigation Department, (CID), located along Uzuakoli Road in Umuahia, the Abia State capital.
Though details of the attack are still sketchy but Pointblanknews.com gathered that one policeman suffered machete cuts from the hoodlums while two got bullet wounds.
The injured policemen were said to have been taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.
Sources further told Pointblanknews.com that the hoodlums broke into the armoury of the station but it could not be confirmed if arms and ammunitions were carted away.
Efforts to get the reaction of the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Geoffrey Ogbonna was unsuccessful as he did not respond to calls made to his handset.
The State CID was last year invaded by unknown gunmen who burnt part of the premises after releasing the inmates.
The Police had relocated to the State Command headquarters along Bende road, Umuahia, until a part of the facility was recently renovated.
