Recall that the Lawmaker and his wife were arrested Thursday for alleged conspiracy to harvest the organs of a child.
But Pointblanknews.com Investigations reveal that Ekweremadu’s child has been battling with a kidney issue and as such needed a transplant.
A Source close to the family revealed that it was cheaper to get the donor in Nigeria and fly same to the UK where the procedure will be undertaken after the fees were agreed upon by the family.
Trouble however started when the family of the donor arrived the hospital and were interrogated by the hospital as to the knowledge or otherwise of the procedure.
“When they arrived the hospital in London, the hospital decided to interrogate the parents of the donor to ascertain if they knew what was going to be done.
“They panicked and were no longer comfortable with the explanation the hospital had given concerning the whole process despite being briefed in Nigeria and fees agreed upon and paid before the trip.”
Pointblanknews.com gathered that it was at this point the hospital management alerted the London metropolitan police.
The police, in turn, arrested Dr. Ekweremadu and his wife upon arrival at the airport.
The police have said they are in custody of the child, insisting the donor is under 18years of age.
The police have however refused to divulge the donor’s identity or the sex as at the time of filing this report.
