The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has intensified its counter-insurgency campaign in Nigeria’s North-East, destroying a terrorist enclave and logistics base during precision airstrikes conducted in Yaganari, within the Gezuwa general area of Borno State.

The overnight operation, carried out on Friday, July 10, was executed by the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI after credible intelligence revealed renewed terrorist activity and the concentration of insurgents in the area.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday by the Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame.

Ejodame said intelligence gathered before the operation confirmed the presence of terrorist hideouts and logistics facilities, paving the way for the precision strikes.

“Following credible intelligence, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance missions confirmed the presence of terrorist structures and logistics hubs in the area before the targets were engaged,” Ejodame said.

According to him, the airstrikes successfully destroyed key terrorist infrastructure and inflicted significant losses on the insurgents.

He added that the precision airstrikes “destroyed the identified terrorist infrastructure and neutralised several insurgents.”

The Air Force said the latest offensive is part of sustained efforts to degrade terrorist capabilities, disrupt their logistics network, deny them freedom of movement, and prevent them from regrouping across the North-East theatre of operations.

The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, commended the personnel involved in the mission, praising their professionalism and commitment to the ongoing fight against terrorism.

According to the statement, Aneke reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s resolve to sustain relentless air operations in support of Operation HADIN KAI and other counter-terrorism efforts.

“The Nigerian Air Force will continue to work with ground forces to disrupt and destroy terrorist elements while ensuring they have no safe haven to rebuild their capabilities,” the Air Chief stated.

The latest operation underscores the military’s continued strategy of combining intelligence-driven air power with ground operations to dismantle terrorist strongholds and limit the operational capacity of insurgent groups in the region.
