BREAKING: Appeal Court strikes out APC, Sylva’s motions for stay of execution of lower court judgement

by Our Reporter
A Court of Appeal on Friday struck out the motions filed by the former governor of Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva, and the All Progressives Congress (APC) seeking a stay of execution of the ruling of a lower court.
The appellate court also dismissed their motions seeking an order for Sylva to be relisted as a candidate in the forthcoming governorship election in Bayelsa.

A Federal High Court in Abuja, on October 10, disqualified Sylva from participating in the election.

Justice Donatus Okorowo, in the judgment, ruled that Sylva having been sworn in twice and ruled for five years as governor of Bayelsa would breach the 1999 constitution as amended if allowed to contest again.

The amended list uploaded online by INEC on Tuesday showed that Sylva and his running mate, Joshua Maciver, were not included in the Bayelsa poll.
