It was gathered that the monarch and his son were killed while returning from a funeral service in Takum on Friday, July 19, 2024.
The incident was confirmed via a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Digital Communication, Emmanuel Bello, on Saturday, July 20.
Bello quoted Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas as describing the monarch and son’s killing as tragic.
The governor has however ordered security operatives in Taraba State to immediately investigate the incident and go after the bandits, stressing that everyone involved must be brought to justice.
Kefas, while calling for calm from Takum residents, said he would leave no stone unturned to fetch out the criminals and bring them to justice.
He reiterated his resolve to rid the state of all acts of lawlessness and brigandage, stressing that the era of banditry and criminality has ended with all the strong security measures the administration has been taking.
Kefas also condoled with the people of Chanchagi and Takum, adding that he would continue to work hard with partners to make Taraba State safe for everyone.
