Wife of the Senate President, Ekaette Akpabio, has dismissed allegations of sexual harassment against her husband, Senator Godswill Akpabio, made by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP, Kogi Central).
Akpoti-Uduaghan alleged on Arise TV’s The Morning Show that her clash with Akpabio over seating arrangements at the Senate stemmed from sexual harassment she suffered from the Senate President.
Speaking to journalists on Friday, Mrs. Akpabio described her husband as a disciplined and jovial man, rejecting the claims as false and baseless.
The wife of the Senate President recounted the cordial relationship between both families and maintained that the claims were entirely fabricated.
She further stated that she was present at their residence on the alleged date, December 8, 2023, emphasising that the two families have shared a long-standing bond that predates Akpoti-Uduaghan’s marriage.
She said, “The allegations are unfounded, as she was present at her family residence on the alleged date 8th December, 2023.
“Both families enjoy a long-standing cordial relationship that predates Senator Natasha’s marriage to her husband.”
Mrs Akpabio praised her husband’s commitment to women’s inclusion in governance and insisted that he has always upheld respect for women.
Calling for an end to false accusations, she vowed to seek legal redress over the matter.
