The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has commended the Special Adviser to the President on Senate Matters, Senator Basheer Lado, for ensuring that no presidential communications to the Senate have been leaked since he assumed office.
Speaking on Thursday evening, Akpabio acknowledged Lado’s remarkable dedication to safeguarding the integrity of communication between the presidency and the Senate. He emphasized that in the past eight months, there have been no leaks, highlighting Lado’s exceptional performance in facilitating smoother communication between President Bola Tinubu’s administration and the Senate.
Akpabio expressed his admiration for Lado’s work, stating that it was unprecedented in terms of making the relationship between the Senate and the Executive more effective. He also expressed confidence that with the collaboration of Lado, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibril, and APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, the party would secure a strong hold in Kano State in the 2027 elections.
“I must note that since Senator Lado assumed office, there has been no leakage of any confidential communication between the presidency and the Senate. Not a single instance,” Akpabio said. “In government, it’s crucial to maintain the confidentiality of official communications. Leaked information, whether through newspapers or social media, can have a negative impact on national security. Therefore, I want to thank Senator Lado for ensuring that this vital aspect of governance is preserved.”
He further praised Lado’s performance, noting how the office itself has been transformed under his leadership, resulting in a more effective collaboration between the Executive and the Legislature. Akpabio also praised Lado’s efforts in keeping track of all the bills passed by the Senate and those assented to by the President.
Looking ahead to 2027, Akpabio expressed confidence that the combination of Lado, Barau Jibril, and Ganduje would ensure APC’s dominance in Kano.
In response, Senator Lado acknowledged Akpabio’s leadership, emphasizing that President Tinubu had found in him not just an ally but a statesman who understands the importance of cooperation in governance.
“Mr. Senate President, your presence here exemplifies the unity between the Executive and the Legislature. It shows the strength that comes from shared vision and the power of collective leadership anchored in service to the people,” Lado said.
He further praised Akpabio’s unwavering support for President Tinubu’s administration, highlighting his role in advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda. Lado commended Akpabio for not just supporting the President but actively championing the administration’s initiatives through the Senate with clarity and passion.
In conclusion, Lado expressed his confidence that the collaborative efforts within the APC leadership would secure a successful future for the party, especially heading into the 2027 elections.
