The Delta State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has inaugurated a Coalition Committee to serve as an advisory body ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The inauguration, which took place on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at the Delta ADC State Secretariat in Asaba, saw party leaders and coalition partners converge to chart a path toward unity and grassroots mobilization.
Speaking at the event, the State Chairman of the party, Engr. Austine Okolie, emphasized the importance of cohesion among coalition partners, assuring that the existing party structure would remain intact while the new committee works closely with stakeholders to build a stronger platform.
According to Okolie, “the Committee’s role is to provide advisory support to enhance cohesion and collaboration within the party, driving grassroots mobilization and strategic partnerships.”
The committee, which draws representatives from coalition partners across the state, is expected to strengthen collaboration, unity, and strategic engagement as the party prepares for 2027.
Several committee members pledged loyalty and dedication to the ADC’s ideals. Mr. Anthony Omonigho, Apostle Ebi Amos Peremene, and Bishop Obiajulu expressed their readiness to work for the party’s growth, unity, and eventual victory.
Mrs. Chiwe Ejodor, who serves as Woman Leader of the committee, pledged women’s active mobilization for the party, describing the ADC as “the way forward for Delta State and Nigeria.”
Among those inaugurated into the Coalition Committee are,
Engr. Okolie Chukwuekwu Austine,
Mr. Yebu Ebi Napoleon,
Mrs. Chinwe Ejidoh,
Hon. Obus Donald,
Apostle Ebi Amos Peremene,
Hon. Esther Esevohare,
Fred Akpewe,
Icon Nixon Chukwuka Odimbu,
Hon. Dr. Nkadi Okocha Ejeko,
Bishop Obiajulu Obi Obiajulu,
Mr. Omonigho Anthony,

Mr. Victor Bezi,
Comrade Okpara Okwusi,
Rev. J. F. K. Orukpe,
Mr. John Keme,
Mr. Emeka Okolo and
Mr. Onochie Osheokwu
The inauguration, according to observers, represents a significant step toward the ADC’s objective of unity, grassroots mobilization, and strategic collaboration in the run-up to the 2027 general elections.
However, the development comes against the backdrop of continued controversy surrounding the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Mr. Dumebi Kachikwu, also from Delta State.
Kachikwu has consistently denied being part of the coalition, accusing former National Chairman, Ralph Nwosu, and others of “selling a bad market” to Atiku Abubakar and his associates. He further claimed that Nwosu’s tenure had expired and insisted that there are “other known and lawful managers” of the party, while maintaining that he remains the party’s national leader.
When asked if Kachikwu was in sync with Tuesday’s inauguration, a Delta ADC chieftain, Fidelis Chidera, dismissed the suggestion with laughter. He said: “My brother, Kachikwu is serving a suspension. For now, he is no longer a member of our party. We know who he is working for. Dumebi is just hustling. The leaders of the party are the ones in this event now and we are part of the national. Dumebi is a nobody. He is fighting a lost battle.”
As at press time, Mr. Kachikwu was yet to react to the inauguration.
With the new Coalition Committee in place, the Delta ADC leadership insists it is better positioned to overcome internal distractions and build a united front capable of competing strongly in 2027.
