The Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), has assured foreign and local investors of the Federal Government’s commitment to providing an enabling legal environment and protecting their business interests.
Fagbemi gave the assurance at a dinner he hosted on Tuesday for the Nigerian delegation attending the ongoing 2026 International Bar Association (IBA) Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The event was attended by the Minister of State for Works, Bello Musa Goronyo; lawyers, diplomats, members of the Nigerian communities in Denmark and neighbouring Sweden, as well as their foreign friends.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by his media aide, Kamarudeen Ogundele, Fagbemi said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration was committed to building a stronger economy through policies and laws designed to boost investors’ confidence in Nigeria.
He said the administration was focused on strengthening the rule of law, improving access to justice and modernising the administration of justice, among other reforms.
“The administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains committed to strengthening the rule of law, improving access to justice, modernising the administration of justice, strengthening prosecution and law-enforcement institutions, promoting respect for human rights, and creating a legal environment in which citizens and investors can have confidence,” he said.
The AGF urged lawyers and other Nigerians to support the government’s efforts to build a stronger and more prosperous country.
In his remarks, Goronyo described Fagbemi as a man of courage and urged Nigerians to support Tinubu’s reform agenda.
The Nigerian Ambassador to Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway, Lola Akande, said the strength, independence and credibility of legal institutions were critical to building confidence among citizens, investors and international partners.
She said, “That is why the work we do here matters. It matters to the individual whose rights require protection. It matters to the investor seeking confidence and predictability. It matters to businesses operating across borders.”
Commending Fagbemi on behalf of the Nigerian delegation, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Yusuf Ali, said the AGF had recorded significant legal victories for the country and established a precedent by hosting the gathering consecutively since assuming office.
