Barely few days after the distribution of over 250 vehicles in the 5th batch of the Abia state Youth Empowerment Scheme, a group, Abia Rehoboth Organization has commended Gov. Theodore Orji for his commitment to the programme which has provided employment to numerous youths across the state.
Briefing newsmen in Umuahia, Leader of the organization, Mrs Christy Nwoke said the organization is happy that the governor has continued to attach importance to issues of youth development in the state.
The distribution of vehicles and running of comprehensive skill acquisition for youths of the state shows that the governor accords priority to the issue of youth development. Gov. Orjis efforts have led to a huge reduction in the number of unemployed youths in the state, Mrs Nwoke said.
According to her, Gov. Orji deserves commendation for doling out taxis free of charge and also processing necessary documents at no cost to beneficiaries of the scheme and added that such magnanimity has made youths self dependent and bread winners of their families.
She called on the beneficiaries to make good use of the vehicles to realize the objective of the scheme as such will encourage government to continue to implement the programme.
Nwoke also commended the governor for keeping to his promise of bequeathing legacy projects to the state.
This is the first time Abia state is witnessing real and concrete dividends of democracy since its creation. If the previous governments; military or civilian had found the need to leave lasting legacies as Gov. Orji is doing, the present administration would not have been in the struggle to give Abia these basic dividends of democracy.
