Lagos As Third Worst City In The World, PDP Counsels Tinubu, Fashola

The South West Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has advised the ACN government in Lagos to use the Economist Intelligence Unit report, which ranked Lagos as the third worst city to live in the world as a challenge to stop propaganda and window dressing projects.

The rankings were  done by the international organisation based on its assessment of the natural environment, state of education facilities, health care delivery, standard of infrastructure and the general well being of the people in each of the 140 cities it assessed.

The PDP said in a statement issued by its Zonal Publicity Secretary, Hon. Kayode Babade that; “looking at the indices used, there is nothing strange in the report to an average Nigerian who is not hoodwinked by an administration that believes more in propaganda rather than in carrying out real developmental projects.”

The PDP said it was happy that the truth which both ex-Governor Bola Tinubu and Governor Raji Fashola did not want to be out was finally out to the whole world.

The party said the two ACN leaders should see the verdict as a global confirmation of their failure as administrators of the state in the last 13 years despite trillions of naira that accrued to the State.

The PDP tasked Lagosians to be alive to their responsibilities and rescue themselves from “the vicious hold of the Tinubu cabal in Lagos whose major project since 1999 had been propaganda and political expansionist agenda, leaving the substance of development unattended to.”

“With this report too, Lagosians should begin to ask questions as to the rationale behind the use of the State fund to purchase political powers in others States of the federation and neighbouring countries,” the PDP said.

The Economic Intelligence Unit in the results of its 2012 Global Liveability Survey released a few days ago assessed 140 cities around the world to pick the best and the worst based on their living conditions. It gave Lagos  the 138th position, a drop from its 137th position in the 2011 ranking. The 139th position was taken by Port Moresby with Dhaka, Bangladesh ranked the worst liveable city in the world.

Australia’s Melbourne emerged number 1, scoring 97.5 while Vienna, Austria also made the top ten along with Helsinki, Finland and Auckland, New Zealand.
