The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja on Thursday set aside the ruling of the Taraba State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, which declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Aisha Alhassan, as the duly elected governor of the state.
In his ruling, Justice Abdul Aboki, who led a five-man appeal panel, averred that the Peoples Democratic Party’s decision to choose Darius Ishaku as its candidate was accepted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The panel therefore, ruled that Alhassan had no locus standi to question the PDP primaries that produced Ishaku as its governorship candidate.
Mr. Ishaku was declared winner of the April 11, 2015 governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and was subsequently sworn in as Taraba governor on May 29, 2015
