The Federal Government has officially unveiled the registration portal for the much-anticipated 2025 National Youth Conference.
The conference aims to deepen youth engagement in governance and nation-building.
Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja, the Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, said the initiative, themed “Next Gen Nigeria: Crafting Solutions, Owning the Future,” aims to be a transformative platform for young Nigerians to shift from protests to policy-making and from mere conversations to concrete actions.
According to Olawande, the Youth Confab 2025 is not just a gathering but a defining national movement designed to inspire a new era of hope and renewal. “It is a turning point for this generation, a national call to listen, learn, and lead as one,” he said.
He emphasized that under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the upcoming youth conference will be inclusive, non-partisan, and led entirely by the youth. He noted that every Nigerian youth, from local wards to the diaspora will have the opportunity to be actively involved.
“With over 70% of Nigeria’s population under 35, our nation’s future rests in the creativity, passion, and determination of our young people. It’s time to transform frustration into innovation and aspirations into clear policies,” Olawande stated.
He further outlined the structure of the conference, which will be delivered through a broad, participatory framework that includes:
Virtual engagement sessions with youths in the diaspora to ensure their voices are also heard.
Stakeholder consultations across all 360 federal constituencies to give every young Nigerian a platform.
Regional consolidation meetings in the six geopolitical zones to harmonize grassroots input.
A culminating national conference in Abuja, where youth-driven policy recommendations will be developed and presented for government consideration.
“This is not another ceremonial event or a mere talk shop. It is a credible, action-oriented platform where young people can genuinely shape the future they desire,” the Minister assured.
The conference will focus on six key thematic pillars that reflect the priority areas of Nigerian youth:
Leadership, governance, and political participation
Economic transformation, entrepreneurship, and employment
Education and future-ready skills
Technological innovation and digital advancement
Climate action and sustainable energy
Social inclusion and national security
Olawande also stressed that the entire process will be guided by transparency, inclusivity, innovation, and mutual respect. “Every Nigerian youth, regardless of gender, background, faith, or ability, must have a seat at the table,” he affirmed.
Announcing the official portal—https://nationalyouthconfab.gov.ng, the Minister encouraged young people from all walks of life, including students, artisans, professionals, creatives, and entrepreneurs, to register and actively participate in shaping national policy. Registration will remain open until June 30.
“The future of Nigeria isn’t something to wait for, it’s something to build now. Nigeria needs your voice, your ideas, and your leadership,” Olawande declared.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the National Planning Committee and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Olubunmi Olusanya, described the Youth Confab as a vital platform to elevate the innovative ideas and ambitions of young Nigerians.
She noted that the newly unveiled website would serve as the primary hub for information, registration, and engagement throughout the process, ensuring that no voice is left behind.
It would be recalled that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu inaugurated the National Planning Committee for the conference on March 10, signaling his administration’s commitment to youth-inclusive governance.
