The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State has launched a scathing attack on former Governor Ayodele Fayose, accusing him of betrayal and calling for his immediate resignation from the party.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the PDP Publicity Secretary in Ekiti, Raphael Adeyanju, said Fayose had consistently worked against the party’s interests while openly aligning himself with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
“We are not surprised by his latest utterances. He has been working against the PDP for years, and we believe it is time for him to stop pretending,” Adeyanju stated.
The party’s reaction follows Fayose’s controversial appearance on national television, where he described the PDP as a “carcass” and predicted victory for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
Adeyanju said the comments only confirmed long-standing concerns about Fayose’s loyalty, alleging that his actions contributed to the PDP’s poor showing in the 2022 Governorship and 2023 general elections.
“Fayose has no moral standing to remain in PDP. He is a betrayer who has brought nothing but division and disrepute to our party,” he added.
The party further urged the PDP’s national leadership to initiate disciplinary measures against the former Governor, insisting that his continued presence would hinder the party’s efforts at internal reconciliation and rebuilding.
Ekiti PDP also called on loyal members to rally together and chart a new course for the party without the distractions and damage allegedly caused by Fayose’s actions.
