Abia State governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu and his godfather, Senator Theodore Orji, are currently on warpath over an alleged $50 million bribe to the Attorney General of the Federation, (AGF), Abubakar Malami (SAN)and Justices of the Supreme Court to give a favourable judgment to the governor.
Ikpeazu was alleged to have doled out a $50 million bribe to his lawyer, Wole Olanipekun (SAN) to ensure that the AGF prevails on the Supreme Court to deliver judgment in his favour in a case of submission of false information and fake tax documents filed against him by a chieftain of the PDP in Abia State, Sir Friday Nwosu.
The former governor, who now represents Abia Central at the Senate, was said to have warned the senior lawyer to stop being used as a conduit pipe conveying bribe money for the governor. Orji insisted that Ikpeazu and Nwosu are both Ngwa people and that he was deceived to support Ikpeazu. Nwosu was the consensus candidate presented to Theodore Orji by elders of the Ukwa/Ngwa bloc where the governorship seat was zoned to, until his son, Chinedum Orji swayed support in favour of Ikpeazu..
Ikpeazu had on Friday, December 1st, during the Catholic Reverend Fathers’ Recollection Conference at Catholic Church, Umuacha, Isiala Ngwa South local government Area, urged the Catholic priests to pray for his deliverance from the forces of darkness.
The governor who was accompanied by Chiefs Reagan Ufoma and Damian Ozurumba, explained that his poor performance in office is a result of the fact that Theodore Orji and family who installed him have not allowed him to work for the state. Ikpeazu further stated that Theodore Orji and his family as well as their political groups are degree holders in native doctor matters and juju and urged the clerics to pray and deliver him from the hands of juju people.
Sources told pointblanknews.com that some Abia citizens including Senator Orji and Ikpeazu’s core supporters have advised him to stop carrying away billions of Abia state money to bribe judges and other government officials. It was gathered that there appears to be a threat of rebellion in Ikpeazu’s camp as a result of the USD 50 million he and his aides including an international businessman took to his lawyer’s office for delivery to Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN) and Justices of the Supreme Court.
On this, the governor was alleged to have hired marabouts from Jebba, Niger State to perform rituals to divert attention of the authorities from the eye popping USD50 million bribe scandal.
