February General Elections, Mr Peter Obi, has said leadership in the
country is degenerating.
Obi stated this at the closing session this year’s Boot Camp with about
2000 youths at Goverment Technical Seconcondary School, Awka, Anambra
state capital on Sunday
He affirmed that good leadership was very important to the development
and growth of every society.
Obi decried what he called “progressive degeneration of leadership in
Nigeria” stressing it had resulted in the backwardness the country had
been consistently witnessing.
He challenged the youth to be agents of positive change in society.
Obi recalled how some youths invented the Whatsapp,Google, Facebook and
other internet platform, noting they did so in their primes.
He appealed to Nigerian youths to look inward and take every bit of
their training, including the experience at Boot Camp, seriously.
He enjoined the youth to look up to people like international writer,
Chimamada Adichie, as models.
“They may not have money, but they have things that are priceless, far
more valuable than money.
“Those that changed the world were like you, ordinary people. The
founder of Apple, Steve Jobs, was picked in motherless babies’ home;
Gucci used to be a hotel porter at Ritz Hotel, in France.
You should strive to understand the background of successes and know
factors that worked for them,’’ he said.
